Candidates are familiar with a wide range of children’s, young adult, and professional literature in multiple formats and languages to support reading for information, reading for pleasure, and reading for lifelong learning.
These documents demonstrate my knowledge and expertise in Element 2.1. There is an author study, multi-level book selections, and a selection of literature created by using various selection tools.
2.2 Reading promotion
Candidates use a variety of strategies to promote leisure reading and model personal enjoyment of reading in order to promote habits of creative expression and lifelong reading.
I have created a poet of the month project in which students learn about authors, their poetry and books, explore their websites, read and recite their poems and much more. Students and teachers alike, have the opportunity to enjoy poetry, explore the author's writing styles and techniques as well as develop an appreciation for all types of poetry.

Candidates demonstrate the ability to develop a collection of reading and information materials in print and digital formats that support the diverse developmental, cultural, social, and linguistic needs of P-12 students and their communities.

I have created a wiki to support teachers, librarians, parents and students in their use of an effective reading strategy called Reader's Theater. The wiki contains scripts, resources, rationale for using the strategy and much more!
